When Laura + Shawn first told me they were planning to have their wedding in a yurt, I had to google “yurt weddings” to see exactly what they were talking about. Their day was a mix of old and new traditions, a celebration of their love and life set in the beautiful surroundings and relaxed atmosphere of the historic Milford House …

As rockclimbing partners, Laura and Shawn literally put each of their lives in the hands of the other. Throughout the ceremony, their wedding rings were passed along a climbing rope for friends and family to give a wish or blessing, ending with an official tying of the knot … it left me wondering what Laura’s 94 year old grandmother wished.

To quote one of Shawn’s heroes … “Love is a friendship caught on fire” – Bruce Lee.
