Erica + Tyler’s outdoor wedding was held at the beautiful Muir Murray Estate Winery, located in Wolfville in Nova Scotia, Canada. This couple has a very sweet love story, actually having met at the ages of 8 & 9. Due to rain earlier in the day (surprise, surprise) their intimate ceremony was moved inside, but the rain soon cleared up and everyone partied until the late hours of the morning. With friends flown in from all over the world, including Germany, where Erica and Tyler currently live, their reception was full of laughs, singing, and DANCING. Their day was also entirely do-it-yourself. From the custom-made seating plan with button name tags, vintage type-written guest book, their fantastic vegan dinner and, of course, the vineyard setting – it was a really fun wedding to be a part of! One memorable moment … while outside for a photo with some sparklers, it somehow ended up as a flash mob dancing to Michael Jackson’s Thriller …

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

I’m pretty sure that song is the theme of my summer at this point! Marc and Stephanie picked a beautiful location for their wedding day and, even with heavy rain, Grand Pre Winery was gorgeous. The staff served great food, created a warm, intimate atmosphere and, of course, provided amazing, local wine for toasting the couple! We got pretty wet, some of my gear started shorting out and I had to change socks a few times, but it still turned out to be a great day.

And check out their engagement shoot from this past winter. A big thanks to Shelly Baker who stepped in for Jenn to spend the day lugging gear and helping to capture all the festivities (without a pair of rubber boots!).

A Summer Solstice Wedding at Windhorse Farm

Jenn and I headed down to Windhorse Farm in New Germany on June 21st for Tony & Jasmine’s noon wedding vows – at the exact start of summer solstaice. I have to say that a noon wedding on a Tuesday was a first for me, and the beautiful, organic setting/summer solstaice theme perfectly suited the couple and their intimate wedding. We really enjoyed getting to know all of their closest friends and family, tasting some amazing, locally-grown food and, of course, exploring the incredible setting with the newlyweds! What a great way to kick off the summer!

“Woooooohoooooooooooooo!!!!!!” That’s exactly how Harmonie ended her email to me after I told her that I was available to shoot her wedding. And, that’s exactly how Jenn and I felt the entire day working with her & Tim. They choose to have an early evening ceremony with an amazing sunset over their beautiful home in Chester, and we also had time to sneak away to a nearby marina beach for a private toast with a bottle of Dom Perignon and their closest friends. It was a great day spent with a really great family … cheers to the newlyweds!

Something Blue

Fall weddings are amazing in Nova Scotia. Katherine and Josh were married along a gorgeous riverside in Kejimkujik National Park, which is a magical place for a wedding, especially during the onset of the fall season. I hope you enjoy a glimpse of this unique and incredibly charming wedding …

When Katherine and Josh asked me to photograph their intimate wedding, I felt so honored to be part of their celebration, but when I found out that she’d be wearing a blue wedding dress – I couldn’t help but think that it was totally meant to be (in case you haven’t figured it out, blue is my favourite color). Her original custom white wedding dress showed up a few weeks before the wedding, but it wasn’t even close to fitting. So with some help from her closest friends, she went for something blue … a far from traditional dress that perfectly complimented the 50′s newsboy look of her groom. On top of it all, a killer custom made cage veil from Totusmel … I loved it!

Jenn took a nasty tumble capturing this next shot – right in the middle of their quiet, intimate ceremony. Everyone in the photo is having a fun moment and I’m pretty sure that it went unnoticed, but I’ve since teased her by saying, “they’re laughing because of you” …

Right after the ceremony, I caught the newlyweds sharing their news via Twitter …

From Valley To Coastline

This was one of those weekends when rain and clouds couldn’t ruin anything. Jenn and I were excited to return to Cape Breton for Melanie and David’s wedding – Margaree Harbour is such a beautiful place and a fantastic setting for a wedding. I’m happy to share a few moments captured as we followed the newlyweds from valley to coastline through a place that’s now become one of my favourite spots in Nova Scotia. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day, especially when you have a bride and groom with an unbridled desire to have fun with their wedding photos. I can’t help but feel overjoyed at the fact that we get to photograph weddings like this one – and that rain really does make things new. For both of those things, I am grateful and wish Melanie and David a long and happy life together! More to come …

Of course there was a wedding tucked in the middle of all this … here’s a wonderful moment that Jenn captured during their ceremony.

A Belle Côte Wedding

Posted by Jenn – I’m sighing really deep breaths from an overlow of love that I have for this wedding. Jeff and I found ourselves so at ease with all of Jodi & Gabe’s family & friends that it was truly sad when we shot the last frame at the reception knowing that our time with this amazing family was over … we were the last to leave, but it’s so hard putting the camera down when you’re having that much fun! Their wedding was the perfect celebration of everything Jodi & Gabe … held at Jodi’s family home in in Belle Côte, Cape Breton, their wedding day was relaxed and intimate. Lots of laughter, hugs, kisses, & happy tears were shed and I was thrilled to be there to witness it all & capture every moment alongside Jeff. Their reception was held at the beautiful Island Sunset … a venue that certainly lived up to it’s name as we were treated to one of the most amazing sunsets ever. And the food at their reception was fresh and delicious – provided by a close friend of Jodi and Gabe’s who owns a local organic farm. Guests danced the night away to the sounds of Hawco, and then got a little crazy for the photo booth that we set up later in the evening. A very big thanks to Jodi, Gabe and all of their family and friends – you hold a special place in our hearts and we couldn’t be more happy for the two (soon to be three) of you. Here are some of the beautiful photos captured that make my heart so happy …

From Louisiana, With Love

Amber and George traveled from Louisiana for their “destination wedding” in Chester, Nova Scotia … a celebration uniting their families, and their friends lives together. It was a perfect sunset wedding held at the Grove’s beautiful family home overlooking Chester basin … more to come.
