From Valley To Coastline

This was one of those weekends when rain and clouds couldn’t ruin anything. Jenn and I were excited to return to Cape Breton for Melanie and David’s wedding – Margaree Harbour is such a beautiful place and a fantastic setting for a wedding. I’m happy to share a few moments captured as we followed the newlyweds from valley to coastline through a place that’s now become one of my favourite spots in Nova Scotia. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day, especially when you have a bride and groom with an unbridled desire to have fun with their wedding photos. I can’t help but feel overjoyed at the fact that we get to photograph weddings like this one – and that rain really does make things new. For both of those things, I am grateful and wish Melanie and David a long and happy life together! More to come …

Of course there was a wedding tucked in the middle of all this … here’s a wonderful moment that Jenn captured during their ceremony.

A Belle Côte Wedding

Posted by Jenn – I’m sighing really deep breaths from an overlow of love that I have for this wedding. Jeff and I found ourselves so at ease with all of Jodi & Gabe’s family & friends that it was truly sad when we shot the last frame at the reception knowing that our time with this amazing family was over … we were the last to leave, but it’s so hard putting the camera down when you’re having that much fun! Their wedding was the perfect celebration of everything Jodi & Gabe … held at Jodi’s family home in in Belle Côte, Cape Breton, their wedding day was relaxed and intimate. Lots of laughter, hugs, kisses, & happy tears were shed and I was thrilled to be there to witness it all & capture every moment alongside Jeff. Their reception was held at the beautiful Island Sunset … a venue that certainly lived up to it’s name as we were treated to one of the most amazing sunsets ever. And the food at their reception was fresh and delicious – provided by a close friend of Jodi and Gabe’s who owns a local organic farm. Guests danced the night away to the sounds of Hawco, and then got a little crazy for the photo booth that we set up later in the evening. A very big thanks to Jodi, Gabe and all of their family and friends – you hold a special place in our hearts and we couldn’t be more happy for the two (soon to be three) of you. A Lakeside Wedding – Robyn & Egist

A few weeks ago Jenn and I got up at 5 am and drove to the Inverary Resort, located along the waterfront of Baddeck in Cape Breton, to capture Robyn and Egist’s wedding. Perfect timing for a wedding as, what started as a rainy day, ended up as a gorgeous Cape Breton evening with an amazing sunset and full moon over the Bras d’Or lake. A lot of their day brought me back to my dad’s time as a Halifax police officer, especially when I heard the stories shared by Egist’s fellow officers at their reception. It was an amazing day with a tight-knit group that welcomed Jenn and I like family. But driving up and back to Cape Breton in one day with a wedding in between definitely makes for a long day, especially after having another wedding the night before. Thankfully I had Jenn (and several stops at Tim Horton’s) with me to help navigate through thick fog and the thrill seeking foxes that darted in front of us.
