Cheers to Harmonie + Tim

“Woooooohoooooooooooooo!!!!!!” That’s exactly how Harmonie ended her email to me after I told her that I was available to shoot her wedding. And, that’s exactly how Jenn and I felt the entire day working with her & Tim. They choose to have an early evening ceremony with an amazing sunset over their beautiful home in Chester, and we also had time to sneak away to a nearby marina beach for a private toast with a bottle of Dom Perignon and their closest friends. It was a great day spent with a really great family … cheers to the newlyweds!

Sam + Laura

My grandmother, Sadie, was Lebanese and I’ve always had her and the entire Arab family to thank for all the amazing food like grape leaves, hummus, fattayirs, tabbouleh and kafta that I’ve grown to love over the years. Now, after experiencing Sam & Laura’s wedding celebration “week-end”, I’m pretty sure I also have her to thank for the party gene – because Sam and Laura’s wedding proved that the Lebanese culture sure know how to have a good time and we were thrilled to be there for every moment from start to finish.

We’re Engaged … Let’s Go to the Movies!

Maggie & Waleed love the movies, which worked out to be the perfect setting for an engagement shoot – especially considering the weather we have been having….(I know, I know – at this point we just need to all deal with it and think positive). I love the movies too, and, ironically, a few weeks before this shoot, I ran into them on the opening weekend of a big summer movie. We had a lot of fun during their movie date and there’s no doubt that we’ll have a great time this fall when they get to star in their very own wedding day …

Susan + Jamie

Susan & Jamie traveled to Halifax to celebrate their wedding day with friends and family … Susan, who is a SMU grad and teacher in the Northwest Territories, thought it would be fun to get a few photos in a school or classroom. So we headed over to Saint Mary’s University and sweet-talked a security guard into letting use a classroom and the library for a few photos … their day was perfect and didn’t end until the wee hours of the morning (Newfoundlanders sure do know how to party) … congrats to this happy couple and safe travels!

Jenn and I spent a sunny Sunday with Bill & Kristina as they celebrated their wedding day in downtown Halifax at the Casino’s Compass Room. Their son Brayden, along with some other little friends, had a great time running all over the place … which made for some adorable moments (and in a lot of ways stole the spotlight). I thought with all my practice at home that I could keep up with the little munchkins, but they definitely gave Jenn and I a run for it – especially on the dancefloor. Congrats to Kristina, Bill and Brayden!!

Shoot the Bride

It’s no secret that I enjoy collaborating with Liam Hennessey and Heather Crosby – we’ve become good friends and are equally passionate about our jobs and our clients. Last winter we packed our gear up and headed to PEI for a creative collaboration that, months later, caught the attention of the crew from Arcadia Entertainment. They invited us into their offices to chat about the creative side of wedding photography, and after a few meetings, we got together to film a pitch for a tv series …

A big thanks to John Wesley Chisholm and the entire crew at Arcadia Entertainment for the opportunity to get together and shoot the bride.

Greek vs. Lebanese

What do you get when a Greek family and Lebanese family are united by marriage? A very large wedding with amazing food, great dancing and lots of tradition. I photographed Rena & Richie’s engagement earlier this year, and was looking forward to all aspects of the Greek and Lebanese culture that they were planning to incorporate into their day. After the beautiful ceremony in the Greek Orthodox church in Halifax, guests were treated to a fantastic dinner followed by traditional Greek and Lebanese dancing (which was much like a dance off), along with an incredible performance by “magic hands” Charlie K and his Darbouka. Needless to say, the party lasted hours and, as usual, we stayed until the very end trying to keep up and capture all of the action …
