Me.

Weddings are my PASSION; I love every moment & detail! My inspiration comes from the relationship that I build with you. I consider EVERY client a potential friend & approach every wedding from that fun, part-of-the-gang perspective. My images tell your story not from a "fly on the wall" point of view, but from a "friend at the party" point of view. The emotion I capture is in real time, not forced, coaxed, or re-enacted. The memories, therefore, are of the actual circumstances, rather than "what the photographer made us do". I strive to stay ahead of the trends and on the cutting edge of the photography industry. I have an intense knowledge of lighting, both natural & artificial, along with the tenacity it takes to create jaw-dropping images. Being creative is great, but creating an image that speaks to its viewer, comes alive, and translates emotion, for me, is the ultimate achievement; that is what takes me from photographer to story teller.

So about me ... I'm truly in love & have been for 9 years, married over 6, and we have 2 amazingly awesome kids with 1 oversized golden retriever (who's basically grown to become a giant teddy bear). I'm kind of crazy, kind of smart, & kind of funny, but not fully any of these. I can be a little eccentric, out of the box, & think of myself as quite unique. I'm tall, I'm energetic, and I'm passionate about what I do. I'm active, a marathon runner, and I have a hard time staying still. I love hanging out and being close to friends and family. My style, much like my personality, is fun, fresh, hip, bold and real. And to be perfectly honest, if I didn't have to work a day in my life, I'd still be a photographer.

Island Love

Being back on the East Coast of Canada has reminded me of the talent that exists here. I recently travelled to Charlottetown, PEI to shoot for an event, but found myself drawn to a traditional east coast kitchen party. Food, drink and amazing music filled this old victorian home until the wee hours of the morning. Sounds of the city gave way to the sounds of fiddles, pianos and guitars. It was a great reminder of why I moved home, and I look forward to working with these artists again. Here are a few of my favourites …

DeAnna Rocks The Dress – Halifax Wedding Photographer

Next weekend I’ll travel from Halifax to North Carolina to photograph DeAnna and Brad’s wedding and I’m really looking forward to sharing some of my favorites … but in the meantime I wanted to post a few shots that I’ve been sitting on for the past couple of months. I met with DeAnna earlier in the year for a “Rock the Dress” bridal session, but for obvious reasons didn’t want to share any of the photos until after their wedding.
Halifax Bridal Photographer - Jeff Cooke Photography These bridal sessions are a lot of fun and a great way to showcase stunning brides rocking their amazing dresses before their wedding day. And there’s a few things that make this bridal portrait session distinctly my own – a stylist for hair and make up, a cool location which in this case happened to be downtown Charlotte, and because they’re influenced by my reading of Vogue and Wedding Bells. A rock the dress bridal session is slightly different than the popular, post-wedding “Trash the Dress” sessions as we definately don’t trash the wedding dress … this is designed to showcase the bride. And I have to say that I absolutely love these bridal sessions and I can’t wait to rock out with more of my brides.

The Applause – Halifax Photographer

It wasn't a wedding, but there were are lot of happy and emotional moments during a corporate dinner that I photographed at Da Maurizio last week.
